Classical Ballet Program
The classical ballet program at Northwest Ballet emphasizes fundamental ballet concepts with time honored curriculum used by professional schools world-wide. New students entering Ballet I through Professional Division levels are accepted by placement audition. Progress is determined by mastering all the essential technical elements in weekly classes presented during the school year. All dance classes are taught by qualified instructors who are comfortable working with students of all ages and abilities.
Ballet classes consist of warm-up exercises, barre work, center, allegro and adagio, turns and jumps. Intermediate and advanced students will also recieve classes in pointe, variations and pas de deux (partnering). Our program prepares students for a career in dance. Annual evaluations are given out to parents each June to help students and parents have a deeper understanding of the training and progress students are making.
Northwest Ballet School of Classical & Contemporary Dance is the official school of Northwest Ballet (NWB), a performing arts organization. Each year the company performs at least two major productions for the benefit and enjoyment of our students and audiences in Northwest Washington. We invite every student who is interested to audition and perform with us, and enjoy the diversity of talent in our dancers and production staff.
